Mosiac knitting

I got a tip from an anonymous blogger. Schoolhouse Press is publishing Mosiac Knitting by Barbara Walker in April. It's more afforadable than the 1976 copies. They even offer free shipping with a pre-order. It sounds like my knitting library will be greatly enriched. I'm very happy for the opportunity to own a copy.

I am a new knitter (spending saturday evening browsing knitting blogs!). anyway coincidentally I just yesterday got Mosaic Knitting from the library. I had never heard of it before, but it was the only Walker book that didn't have a million holds on it already. I wonder if there's a reason for that.

Yes it has some nice patterns, but you know, it is all about doing two color without stranding, instead you just do every row twice (or four times), once for each color slipping all the stitches that are supposed to be the other color. Weird, even though I am very new at knitting, I've been able to play with two color stranding and make it work (so's my 12 year old son). Her "easy" method in this book sounds way more complicated to me. Are those patterns really worth 600 bucks? Maybe $32 if you already have a knitting book collection.

I cast this piece years ago. It was done in a casting class, using cuttlefish bone. I'm just now doing something with it. It will be a p...
